While studying for law school finals this past spring, Shbecky and I splurged on some mood nail polishes. YES, I said mood. These polishes change color depending on the temperature. The brand I have for you today is called, appropriately, In The Mood. We bought these polishes right off of their website. Each bottle is $8. The shipping is a little steep, but if you have a polish fiend besty like I do - you can split an order and share the shipping!
1 coat Seche Ridge Filling Basecoat + 2 coats In The Mood Curious + 1 coat Seche Vite (natural light, "hot" color)
You can see the mood effects most if you're out on a hot summer day and walk into somewhere air conditioned, or if you run hot or cold water on your nails. If you have long nails, sometimes you can even see the tips of your nails change to the "cold" color, while the base of your nail remains the "hot" color. Some of the polishes are more subtle - like the one I have for you today. In The Mood's Curious switches between green and blue, so the difference is not as noticeable. But others are far more noticeable - like Naughty which switches between bright yellow and bright orange.
For this mani, I used 2 coats and had great coverage. The mood effect is not diminished by the use of a base coat or top coat, so I used both. The color of Curious was the reason I bought it. The "hot" color of this polish is a bright, neon mint green. It is striking, to say the least. I don't think I have any colors like it. The "cold" color is a pretty, almost taupey blue. In the picture it looks like there is a shimmer to this polish, but there is none (unfortunately).

Having worn another In The Mood polish before, I can tell you that these polishes have great wear. The mani lasts for longer than I normally have the patience for! Always a plus. I did find that with Curious, the polish applied a little chunkier than I expected. Luckily, this chunkiness shows a bit more in the picture than it does on my nail.
Overall, these polishes are awesome. The colors are vivid and unique, and the fact that they change color just makes them the perfect buy. I already have a handful (which I will swatch for you soon), and can't wait to complete my collection.
