Revlon Colorstay in Blue Slate with HITs Poseidon Accent

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a nice week.  We had some seriously incredible weather here for a few days.  Sunny skies, near 70 degrees in FEBRUARY!  I struggle sometimes with the bad, dark and cool weather so it was nice to roll down the windows on my car and oogle some holo manis.  I sported HITS Demeter for most of the time and somehow managed not to grab a photo.  Fail.  Anywho, now I am rocking one of the new Revlon Colorstay polishes with a holo accent.  Blue Slate is a gorgeous slate grey/blue creme.  It really has the perfect name.

This new line of Revlon polishes is supposed to be durable like a gel mani.  Unfortunately I already have some chips on Day 2, but I still really love the color.  The formula was really fantastic.  In fact I probably could have left it at one coat.  It is extremely pigmented.  I must tell you, though, that I HATE the brush.  It's on a long stem, but has a tiny little flat brush that isn't even as wide as the stem.  With such a pigmented polish it is very difficult to use this brush.  If the formula wasn't incredible and the color was not so stunning, I would have purged this without second thought.  Maybe I'll rebottle it?

I set out initially to just have a plain Blue Slate mani.  When I put the bottle back down on the table it was sitting next to HITS Poseidon and I realized they had similar undertones.  I couldn't resist painting a coat over it.  This was just one smooth coat with flawless application as usual.  The HITS No Olimpo polishes are a force to be reckoned with in the holographic realm and have yet to disappoint me.  They are not an American brand, but Llarowe stocks them regularly!

Anyone else hate the new Revlon brushes?

Revlon: Grape

Hey everyone!  Sorry I went MIA yesterday, but I returned from Philly yesterday with a million and one things to do.   I just passed out instead of doing my normal nail activities.  I have Revlon's Grape for you all tonight.  It's a really gorgeous color that requires no top coat or base coat - or so they say.  Grape, as it appears below, flows perfectly and smoothly onto the nail.  It dries fast with 2 highly pigmented coats, and is plenty shiny without a top coat.  HOWEVER, this bubbled like crazy.  We're not talking a few bubbles per nail, but rather 20+ per nail.  Has anyone else had trouble like this??

I got so many compliments on this color.  I was hurrying home to Philly after this mani, so I left it bubbly and all even though it was driving me crazy.  Of course everyone back home loved it.  It seems like every time you wear a color that people love you end up with a terrible mani that you wish people wouldn't notice.  Oh well - you can't win 'em all.  I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on this??  My other Revlon polishes don't have this issue.  I would love to fix this issue so that I can sport this again.

Revlon Top Speed, Peachy

I hope everyone is having a nice Saturday!  DC has finally emerged from the terrible weather funk that wouldn't quit last week.  I know I promised more holo, but that will have to wait for later.  I grabbed some sunlight pics of last night's Nfu Oh 61 mani, but I managed to leave my camera in Eisenbrat's car and she is napping.  I also wasted all of the sunlight on a polish shopping spree at Ulta and Ross.  Oops.  At least I got LOTS of lovely polishes to swatch.  Unfortunately I filled up my Helmer... I imagine the bf will be planning an intervention for me soon rather than helping me get another one! 

Today I have Revlon Top Speed in Peachy.  Revlon polishes are 3 Free and come in a distinct bottle with the flat slanted top to the grip.  Revlon claims that you need no base coat or top coat, so I went without either.  I didn't do any wear test yet, but I intend to do so during my internship which starts next week.  Clearly this polish doesn't need a top coat for appearance purposes.  This beauty is super shiny au naturale.  Peachy is in fact a peachy light pink/orange creme.  It applies really easily and I am a big fan.

This is one of those colors you can wear out knowing that your polish isn't totally crazy but will garner lots of compliments anyway.  Peachy is a great Spring/Summer color and I definitely would recommend trying this out if you can snag it during one of CVS's beauty sales.

Verdict? I will definitely keep this one stashed!

I'm off to see the new Pirates movie tonight, but I will throw some holo pics up later if I can.
