Pink Wednesday: Ginger & Liz: Prima Donna

Hey guys!  Just a quick post for Pink Wednesday, because the bf and I are watching Fringe off of my computer and my typing keeps messing up the HD hook up :(.  This is Ginger & Liz Prima Donna.  It's a pale pink metallic foil.  This is pretty much a cousin of Swagger and G&L's gold and silver equivalents.  They've mastered these finishes and manage to leave very little trace of brush marks
2 coats Prima Donna, no top coat, artificial light
G&L polishes are 4 Free and cruelty free and feature a brush that has just shy of 400 strands.  The grippy top makes it really easy to apply and the brush fans out nicely on the nail.  This is 2 coats of Prima Donna but once I applied the second coat I realize I only needed one.  As usual I had trouble capturing pink in the light box, so I have included a flash shot to give you a better idea of the hue.

It's a really lovely color!  It's very feminine and subtle, but still unique enough that it will draw some compliments.  Enjoy!

Ginger & Liz: New Money

Hey guys!  I hope you survived your Monday.  They can be so darn long.  At least tomorrow is something to look forward to.  I get to go see Justice Scalia speak at an intern lecture in the Supreme Court.  I'm pretty lucky!  I'm still rocking my rhinestone flower mani, and I'm actually going to leave it on since it took a lot of patience for me to complete it.  Tonight I have Ginger & Liz New Money.  I wore this last week when I was in the hospital, and I got A LOT of compliments.  New Money is medium teal creme that leans more towards the green side of the spectrum than the blue.

Ginger & Liz polishes are 4 free and don't test on animals.  The bottles are similar in shape to the Essie bottle, but less rounded and have a black cap.  SOME of them are grippy like Orly, and some are not.  I think they must have switched recently-ish or something like that.  Either cap is perfectly suited to the awesome brush featuring just under 400 strands.  Like all of Ginger & Liz's polishes this has an incredible formula.  It is perfectly opaque in 2 coats and only needs Seche Vite to make it last, because this is a super shiny polish.

It actually seems like I don't have any dupes to this beauty.  That's always great because I don't have to feel guilty about stashing this.  Well I wouldn't get rid of this or any Ginger & Liz polish anyway!!

Happy Pink ummmm Wednesday? Ginger & Liz Put A Ring On It

Hey everyone!  I know I've been a big fail on the daily post stuff lately.  I did this mani Tuesday night with plans to post it last night.  Whelp - needless to say things didn't go according to plan.  Dinner date with the boyfriend turned into drinks and then some more drinks.  Then?  I woke up.  This is Ginger & Liz Put A Ring On It.  It's a delicious berry pink creme.  Ginger & Liz is 4 free and features an awesome brush.  The bottle is like a glamorous Essie bottle with a black top.  Put A Ring On It painted on VERY smoothly.  It also could be a one coat wonder.  I wasn't very careful in my application so I had to top it off with an extra coat.  As a final note, this polish has an out of this world shine going.  I added a top coat, but it is just as shiny on its own.  I can see my face in the reflection outside.

I told my boyfriend that I'm going to wear this every day until I someday get engaged.  That way i can have the right polish on at the right time.  HA!

Ginger & Liz: Got My Groove Back

Hey everyone!  I hope you polish-fiends are enjoying the weekend, because I certainly am.  I just got back to my parents' house from the Manyunk Arts Festival down in Philly.  I hadn't been since I was younger and I really missed it.  I got some great jewelery and artwork that I may sneak you all a peak of at some point.

Anyways, this afternoon I have Ginger & Liz's Got My Groove Back.  If you recall, I am a recent G&L convert.  They are a 4 free brand that doesn't test on animals and have a bottle grip and brush designed for people who analyze every aspect of a polish like you and I!  The top is grippy like an Orly bottle, but way more petite and black in coloring.  The brush is medium length and futures just shy of 400 strands per brush.
2 coats Got My Groove Back + Seche Vite, artificial light after 2.5 days of wear!
Got My Groove Back is a perfect gold metallic that doesn't suffer from brushstroke marks like most metallics.  This is a cinch to apply and was perfect and even at 2 coats.  I even did a mini wear test with this (note this was more because I was busy and tired from work and less because I had planned on a wear test, but hey it works out for us all).  I didn't manage to get a photograph on day one, but it doesn't seem to matter.  The above photo was taken after 2.5 days of wear!  I did use Seche Vite over this, but the pair clearly work well together as I got no bubbling or pull back!  I am thinking this is probably not entirely work-appropriate polish, but I feel like you can make it work.  It's like jewelery, right?

Verdict?  I'm not normally a metallic kinda gal, but for Ginger & Liz I think/am positive that I can make an exception.  Keep 'em coming!

Ginger & Liz: Swagger

Good morning!  I'm in a really chipper mood for a Monday!  I think a productive weekend has that effect on me :)  I even went to the gym - it's a miracle.  I think I need to go back today because I seriously love this "high."  Anyways, today I have another new to me polish brand, Ginger & Liz.  This is "Swagger."  How great is the name?  I was most excited about this one out of the four I purchased.  They came in a nifty plastic bag package that has a really cool blurb about the polish printed on the back.  Ginger & Liz polishes are 3 Free, vegan and animal cruelty free.  They have INCREDIBLE brushes.  They boast near 400 brush strands and offer a gripable top that feels like the ones on Orly bottles.  They are rectangular prism bottles that are easy to hold (Think Essie bottle).

Swagger is a bronze-ish foil and I am now obsessed with.  It was incredibly easy to apply.  Every brand needs this incredible formula and brush.  This was perfectly opaque in 2 coats, but it didn't look that different between the first coat and second coat.  I just applied both out of habit.  As a heads up these will be available on Hautelook this week!  I'm not sure what kind of a discount this entails, or what the selection will be, but for those of us that are feeling the finance squeeze at the moment this is a great thing.
great bottle
I can't wait to try out my other 3 polishes!
